Topeka (WIBW) - The Boy Scouts celebrated their 100th birthday with some pretty impressive supporters.

Several Scouts were invited to the Statehouse, where Gov. Mark Parkinson signed a proclamation honoring the centennial.

Jacob Bures of Troop 11 at Christ the King School was among those attending. He says scouting teaches him responsibility and dedication.

Later in the day, the Scout Shop at the Jayhawk Area Council Scout Service Center threw a birthday party.

The event included lots of different games for the boys to play and treats, too.

The Boy Scouts of America was formally founded Feb. 8, 1910.
