The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced help for homeowners and low-income renters in flood-ravaged parts of Kansas.
Tuesday's announcement covers the 17 counties included in Monday's Presidential disaster declaration. The state is moving to have three more counties - Greenwood, Crawford and Labette - added.
HUD will allow the state to re-direct Community Development Block Grant money, grant a 90-day moritorium on foreclosures on FHA insured mortgages, and offer state and local governments loans for housing rehab and other costs, such as economic development and repair of public infrastructure.
