LARNED, Kan (WIBW)_ The Attorney General's office announced a settlement in its suit to prevent St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned from closing its doors permanently.
"I am happy with this agreement and that we can preserve local health care in the Larned community," Attorney General Steven Six said about the deal. "The parties and I feel this is a healthy outcome for all parties and most importantly for the Larned and surrounding communities."
According the Attorney General's office, the mediated settlement would entail St. Joseph Hospital being transferred to a party designated by the City of Larned and Pawnee County.
The parties involved still must complete a due diligence assessment process and reach a definitive agreement. The deal then would be subject to the approval of the board, Church, regulatory, and governance approval.
The transfer is expected to be completed by March 1, 2010.
