Wichita leads the pack on sections of the state with a high jobless rate.

TOPEKA -- More than 8,000 Kansans will get applications for emergency unemployment compensation (Tier III benefits) in the mail soon.

The program was recently signed into law, and will provide jobless Americans with another 14 weeks of unemployment , including the Kansans who've exhausted their full complement of regular state benefits.

To find out more on the changes, you can check the Kansas Department of Labor's website at www.DOL.ks.gov.

The department also released November's unemployment figures,with a graduated scale of jobless rates around the state: Manhattan with 4%, Lawrence at 5%, Topeka 6% and Wichita's unemployment rate is nearing 8%.
