Kansas Unemployment Benefits Extended

TOPEKA -- More than 8,000 Kansans will get applications for emergency unemployment compensation (Tier III benefits) in the mail soon.

The program was recently signed into law, and will provide jobless Americans with another 14 weeks of unemployment , including the Kansans who've exhausted their full complement of regular state benefits.

The department also released November's unemployment figures,with a graduated scale of jobless rates around the state: Manhattan with 4%, Lawrence at 5%, Topeka 6% and Wichita's unemployment rate is nearing 8%.
