Lawrence, KAN. (WIBW)--Mark Mangino resigned his post as the head football coach at the University of Kansas nearly two weeks ago and KU released the settlement agreement between Mangino and the school. Mangino will be paid $3 million by KU and that's about a third of the $9.2 million he was due over the next 6 years of his contract.

Spirits were high on Massachusetts street as caught we up with fans and players during their senior sendoff.

Players and fans had little to say about the hot topic Wednesday night but most agree that Mangino is well-deserving of the $3 million buyout.

“Time he spent here and the things he's done, he definitely deserves it,” Kansas receiver Kerry Meier said.

Jayhawk fans packed Buffalo Wild Wings to get signatures and send these seniors off in style rather than dwell on the past. It was an intimate affair with all the hawk seniors, except for Todd Reesing who was taking a final. But for the other three, they said the fans are what made tonight so special.

“To know your always connected, to know you'll always come back...it's a place I’ll always call home,” Kansas safety Darrell Stuckey said.

As these players close a chapter of their lives in Lawrence, a new one will soon be written under the title of coach Turner Gill. And fans and players alike are confident KU holds some of its best days ahead.

"I hate to say goodbye to coach Mangino, he'll always be the coach in my heart...but we got to look at the positives, this program is going to excel regardless,” Stuckey said.

Here are some more highlights of the buyout:

- $3M to be paid on or before Dec. 24th
- Health Insurance premiums covered through March 30th, 2010
- Life Insurance premiums covered through April 30th, 2010
- Neither Side Admits Fault
- Neither Side Will "Disparage One Another"
- This document will remain "strictly confidential unless required to disclose" under the KS Open Records Act
