Train Hits Car Overnight
Nobody was hurt Tuesday morning when a train hit a car just west of Topeka. It happened just before 3 a.m. Authorities say a train hit an unoccupied vehicle at a railroad crossing near 17th and Valencia Rd.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Nobody was hurt Tuesday morning when a train hit a car just west of Topeka.
It happened just before 3 a.m. Authorities say a train hit an unoccupied vehicle at a railroad crossing near 17th and Valencia Rd.
Two people who had abandoned the car told Shawnee County Sheriff's deputies they got stuck on ice as they tried to drive across the tracks.
The two tried to move the car before the train came. They were unable to get it out of the way before the train hit.
The 58 car union pacific train was not damaged.
