The Kansas attorney general's office says about 300 registered sex offenders in the state have been using the MySpace Web site.
The offenders' names appear on lists that the social networking site recently gave Kansas officials.
Last month, MySpace announced it would release information about sex offenders who opened accounts.
A spokeswoman for Attorney General Paul Morrison says the lists only include offenders who used their real names to register with MySpace.
Officials are investigating to see if any of those named are violating probation or parole.
A bill approved earlier this year requires sex offenders to register with the state more often.
They also are to provide more identifying information, such as e-mail addresses and online user names.
