Late this afternoon, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Wichita says it is offering help in the prosecution of Edwin Hall.
U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren says he's been in contact several times with Johnson County DA Phill Kline and that he has had an excellent working relationship with Kline in the past.
Melgren says it's too early to tell if Federal prosecutors will have any direct role in the case, but he says he's offered Kline any assistance he may need in prosecuting Hall, now charged with first degree murder and kidnapping in the death of 18 year-old Kelsey Smith.
