Long-Time Attorney Receives Supreme Court Award

A special meeting by the Kansas Supreme Court was held today to bestow its Justice Award to a long-time Topeka attorney.
Gerald Goodell is recognized for his contributions to the Kansas justice system.
Goodell was awarded a plaque with signatures of each of the Kansas Supreme Court justices. The award also comes with a cash gift, determined by the Supreme Court.
Goodell has served as counsel to the Topeka law firm of Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer, L.L.P. Goodell. He joined the firm after graduation from the Washburn University School of Law in 1958.
Soon after that, Goodell became counsel to the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Topeka. In 1984 he was elected as a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
Goodell is also the former editor of the Kansas Bar Association Real Estate Handbook , currently listed as a leader in the field of real estate law in the publication Best Lawyers in America, and represents real estate brokers, developers and lenders.
The Justice Award has been presented a variety of persons and one organization. Among past recipients are Chief Justice David Prager, former Governor Robert F. Bennett, Lewis L. Ferguson, former Associated Press Kansas correspondent and the Marion County Special Education Cooperative Extended Learning Program.
