Holton (WIBW) - Hundreds of pounds of food have people in Jackson County giving thanks.
Employees of Farmers State Bank in Holton and Circleville pulled up to the Latino Center in Holton Wednesday, loaded down with nearly 2400 pounds of beef, canned goods, rice, noodles and other food staples. The food will go into the Jackson County Food Bank, housed at the center.
The bank's workers made the donation in honor of their customers.
Food Bank Director Ken Waterman says the food bank is seeing more traffic recently. It helped 225 families last month and helped 150 families last week alone.
He says the food bank is there to help people in need. He says it's gratifying to know that at least those who visit won't go to bed hungry.
No one in the Holton community has to miss Thanksgiving dinner, either. A community feast will take place from 11 am to 1 pm Thursday at Saint Dominic Parish Hall.
