It would be illegal to send Kansans anonymous campaign brochures under legislation sent by the House to Governor Sebelius.
The bill requires brochures that call for the election or defeat
of candidates to include the name of the sponsoring organization
that paid for it.
It's the second move by legislators this year to end anonymous
campaigning, after Sebelius signed a bill banning anonymous
automated phone calls that urge support or defeat of a political
candidate.
In recent campaigns, a tactic known as ``robo calls'' has grown
more prominent. Automated phone calls are made and there's nobody
to say who is making the call.
The legislation requires such calls to identify who is paying
for them.
