Congresswoman Nancy Boyda was in Topeka today to announce her national Foster Parents Day resolution.
Boyda introduced the bill at the urging of Topeka resident and former foster child Kevin Surbaugh. Surbaugh has advocated for 17 years for a formal day of recognition for the families who provide safe, stable homes to children in need to temporary care.
Boyda's resolution is expected to come to a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives tomorrow.
