$70k Corvette Recovered After Carjacking

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW-TV) -- Topeka police are searching for two suspects who stole a Corvette at gunpoint Sunday night.

Authorities tell 13 News the carjacking happened around 10:22 p.m. Sunday.

A man was washing his red Corvette at the car wash at 10th and Mulvane when he was approached by two black males, one had a gun.

The two men stole the car and fled from the scene. One was in a dirty white t-shirt and khaki shorts and was armed with a shotgun. The other had dark skin, a mustache and is around 5' 10" tall. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, jeans and was armed with a handgun.

Around 11:31 p.m. Sunday, an officer patrolling the area of SE Irvingham and Girard located, then recovered the vehicle. The vehicle was located in the Betty Phillips Park at 33rd and Irvingham.

The car was unoccupied. The suspects are still on the loose.
