TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)_ Bias Busters returned to the steps of the Shawnee Co. jail Friday afternoon, asking for answers into why an inmate died while in custody there in November.
It's the second protest following the death of inmate John Bradley Rippee, who was found dying in his cell early in the morning on Nov. 12.
Bias Busters leader Sonny Scroggins says he believes there are inconsistencies in what officials are saying about the case and says until those inconsistencies are sorted out he will continue to protest every Friday.
The KBI is investigating the death, a 2004 law Scroggins helped pass mandates that for all deaths of inmates in state or local custody.

As Brad's cousin, extremely close with him and we talked for 2 hrs that last tues and i will relish forever. I jus want people to know that he had NEVER been in trouble before and false charges were filed against him by a woman scorned by rejection since her husband wanted my cousin and not her!!! We are all at a loss and my heart continues to break daily. Thank you for your support. Oh and I've left vmails for Cpt. Phelps for answers,& to investigate the charges;he has FAILED to do even this, perhaps due to unfit staff! The family wants answers and perhaps I need to get the feds involved? Hey that is what I will do. Any word let me know so I can share with the family. Through the Freedom of Information Act I should, as a blood relative, get somewhere. MOST IMPORTANT-Brad was very intelligent, loving, gentile and like most fragile. He never broke a law,and planned on coming home Jan2010 for one yr to have B.A. I just want him to not be remembered like this bc this was NOT Brad!!!
