Shawnee County Inmate Dies
Capt. Tim Phelps confirmed Thursday morning that an inmate has died at the Shawnee County Correction Facility.

TOPEKA, Kansas - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Shawnee County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of an inmate at the Shawnee County Jail.
Officials found John Rippee, 34, unresponsive during a medication pass around 4:40 a.m. Thursday. They say he wasn't breathing. Emergency personnel were summoned, but Rippee was pronounced dead about fifteen minutes later.
Captain Tim Phelps said Rippee died of natural causes.
Rippee was in jail on charges of stalking and violation of a protective order.
