Manhattan, KAN. (WIBW)--A man was airlifted to Stormont-Vail Hospital after he shot himself. They were looking for Matthew Tessendorf to check on his welfare just after 11 this morning, according to Riley County authorities. They found him at 1016 N. Juliette Ave. in Manhattan and noticed he was carrying a handgun. Tessendorf shot himself just before handing the gun over to authorities.
A viewer called in reporting that police blocked off the area surrounding Juliette Avenue but authorities refused to comment on that or Tessendorf's condition.
13 News will follow the story as the investigation continues.
