The food will be divided among Breakthrough House; Doorstep; Fellowship, Inc.; I-CARE; Let's Help, Salvation Army; Topeka North Outreach; and Topeka Rescuee Mission to help them restock their shelves.
Officials from Project Topeka announced the top five organizations that donated to the 2007 food drive. They are, in order, the State of Kansas; Westar Energy; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas; Capitol Federal Savings; Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
Project Topeka began in 1986 and netted 29 tons of food for the community.
Project Topeka sponsors include CRC Emergency Aid Council, the United Way of Greater Topeka, and the AFL-CIO Community Services Division.
