Sen. Roberts and Sen. Brownback introduced a resolution in the Senate denouncing the addition of any amendments to bills fund the implementation of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission's recommendations.
Their resolution comes in anticipation of House of Representatives vote on H.R. 1591, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill. It would provide over $100 billionto fund ongoing military operations.
H.R. 1591 also contains BRAC projects which were not funded last year. President Bush promised to veto the bill in its current form because of provisions that would require him to begin redeployment of troops from Iraq.
