In a single day, 564 adults and children in Kansas receive services from domestic violence agencies.
The study comes from the National Census of Domestic Violence Services (NCDVS).
It was the first-ever one-day census on domestic violence services.
During the 24-hour survey, 564 Kansans residents sought emergency shelters, received services such as counseling, legal help, and children support groups.
Domestic violence advocates answered more than 10 hotline calls an hour.
The survey also revealed there is still a significant need for domestic and sexual violence services.
Eighty residents seeking help during the survey where referred elsewhere because local programs did not have the resources to help them.
