Kansas is looking to take the lead in energy production and possible exportation.
The Kansas Energy Council Biomass Committee met on Monday to discuss topics they want to address in the coming year. Since the state has a high agriculture production, they are looking more towards bio-diesel and bio-ethanol production and exportation, and the goals they want to accomplish.
"What we as a state can do to encourage what's going to happen naturally through the free market, encourage that to happen even faster," Ken Frahm, co-chair of Kansas Energy Council said.
Frahm also says they are not looking to mandate how the state moves forward, but they are trying to encourage those involved with tax incentives.
The committee serves as an advisory committee to the governor who then makes recommendations to the legislature.
