Topeka (WIBW) - Those who respond in disasters are learning new ways to keep people safe.
The Kansas Emergency Management Association is holding its 41st annual statewide conference in Topeka this week. The event brings together emergency management professionals from across the state.
This year's event focuses on how to engage the public in preparing themselves for emergencies and disasters.
The H1N1 virus pandemic is also a hot topic. The group talked about how businesses should have a plan in place if one of their employee were to get the virus.
This is the second year the conference has been held in Topeka. It continues through Friday at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center.
