Murder Trial Postponed After Defendant Asks For New Lawyer

A murder trial has been postponed after the defendant asked for a new lawyer.

24-year-old James Qualls' is charged in the July 16th shooting death of Joseph Beier Junior.

Qualls today asked to have his lawyer Jim Chappas released.

The court found Qualls was justifiably dissatisfied based upon a complete breakdown of communication..

Kelly Connor-Wilson will now represent Qualls.

Beier was shot at the Whiplash bar at 21st and California in Topeka.

A hearing is set for December 3rd so that Connor-Wilson can become familiar with the case.
