Junction City, KS (WIBW) - Two weeks ago Kassandra Gallaghen loaded up her two dogs and left her home near Camp Pendleton in California to make the 23 hour trip to Junction City, Kansas. Gallaghen was excited to see one of her friends before he deployed to Iraq where her husband is already serving.
A week ago Friday she left her Days Inn hotel room to grab a few things from the store. She decided to take one her dogs with her because he barks but she left her 10 month old German Shepherd, Stryker, in his crate inside the room. When she returned the door to the room was open and Stryker was gone. Gallaghen said she does not know or care what happened she just wants Stryker back.
Since then there have been several sightings of the 10-month-old dog. One woman called Gallaghen and told her she had run into the dog with her car on Washington Street. She said she saw him run away. The police came but were unable to locate Stryker. He was also seen near a cemetery on Ash Street and a pond nearby.
Gallaghen said the Days Inn is allowing her to stay for free until she finds her dog and that is exactly what she plans to do. Volunteers from Junction City, Topeka, and even Kansas City have helped her search but so far the efforts have been fruitless.
If you see Stryker you are asked to call Gallaghen at (760) 529-2383. Gallaghen asks that you not try to pet or capture Stryker because he is lost and confused. She said he is friendly but is likely under a lot of stress.
