Osage County (WIBW) - A teenager has been identified as the victim of an accident in Osage County Tuesday morning.

It happened just after 9:35 am. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 16-year old Kerensa Ward of Vassar was driving west on K-268, two miles north of Lyndon. KHP says she stopped at the stop sign at Highway 75, then pulled out in front of a northbound pickup.

Ward died at the scene. Her 15-year old passenger, along with the truck's driver - 51-year old William Meade of Melvern - and his 14-year old passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment.

A roundabout is something that has plenty of cost, and has to be maintained for years.I don't care if it is a Hiway or not they need a stop light.I myself have had enough close calls because people pull out in front of the cars going 65mph and do not even try to get up to speed to go with the flow of the traffic.I learned long ago to slow down to even 55mph when approaching this intersection. Why not have the speed lower until you are North of this place and keep it lower until you get into Lyndon.

Kerensa was nice to everyone who came in contact with her. Even if she had never met you before, or even if you werent the most popular kerensa would always welcome you. She will be missed greatly. This is one of many wrecks that have happend at this intersection, yes there may be stop signs but whos to say everyone is a perfect driver? no matter the age, 16 or 46 people make mistakes.. There should be some some sort of a round-about, or even a stop light. Something needs to be done before one more innocent person looses there life.
