The Kansas congressional delegation split along party lines on a House vote to eliminate billions of dollars in oil industry tax breaks.

Democrats Nancy Boyda and Dennis Moore voted for the bill, which passed on a 264-to-163 vote.

Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahrt were among 159 Republicans who voted against it.

Critics say the energy package will reduce domestic oil production and increase reliance on imports.

Democrats say it could raise $15 billion for renewable fuels, alternative fuels and incentives for conservation.

The bill was the last of the six high-priority issues that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had promised Democrats would pass in the first 100 hours of their control of Congress.

The bill faces an uncertain future in the Senate.
