For the last ten years, with the help of state and federal agencies, the YMCA and eleven other agencies across Kansas has been able to provide children with supervised visits and monitored exchanges. Thursday the YMCA hosted a luncheon to thank the State of Kansas for their role.
Supervised visits help children who may have been the victims of/ or witnesses to physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, or chemical dependency. Visits also assist children reunifying with a parent as a result of paternity testing or incarceration.
Monitored exchanges provide children a safe, comfortable environment during a parental exchange to prevent the child from being used as a go between or buffer.
The luncheon was held on the 3rd floor South Wing of the State Capital and included a brief awards presentation.
