TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- Kansas' highest court has ordered an indefinite jail term for a man accused of practicing law without a license.
The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Topeka resident David Martin Price won't be released until he signs an agreement not to practice law.
Price remained free Tuesday on $5,000 bond but was ordered to report to jail Thursday.
His case already was unusual because the Supreme Court had Price arrested to force him to appear at a hearing Tuesday. Court officials couldn't remember when that last happened.
Price contends he wasn't truly practicing law because he didn't sign court papers or declare publicly that he was someone's attorney.
The attorney general's office has been trying for three years to make sure he doesn't provide advice on legal matters.
