SEVERANCE, Kansas - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a boil water advisory for water customers in the city of Severance which are served water from Doniphan County RWD #3.
KDHE issued the advisory on July 7 due to a number of positive total coliform bacteria samples and no disinfectant residual (chlorine) in the water distribution system.
Anytime there is an indication of bacteria in the water and no disinfectant residual to control bacteriological growth, there is a potential for other problems.
Laboratory testing indicates no presence of total coliform bacteria, disinfection levels have been restored, and the situation is deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved.
