Manhattan (WIBW) - Riley County Police say it's looking like an early morning car fire that killed a person was accidental.
Police responding just after 6 am Thursday to 1130 Westport Drive found a vehicle engulfed in flames. Once the fire was out, police approached the car and found the body.
Capt. Jeff Hooper, Investigations Division Commander for Riley County Police, says it appeared the victim was slumped over from the driver's seat to the passenger side. He says the victim was a young adult male. He says authorities believe they know who he is, but they're awaiting positive identification.
Cooper says police continue to look at all angles, but the preliminary finding from fire crews is the fire was accidental.
