TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Authorities say five children were among the seven people in two vehicles that collided head-on Friday evening.

The accident happened around 5:30 pm Friday at 93rd and S. Topeka Blvd., south of Topeka.

Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Deputy Matt Akers tells 13 News that a Chevy Colorado driving by 78-year-old Norma Tenbrink was southbound and trying to turn east onto 93rd when she collided with an oncoming Ford Expedition.

Akers says Tenbrink told authorities she didn't see oncoming traffic due to the sun.

59-year-old Mark VanCamp was driving the Expedition. He had five children in the vehicle with him. He and several of the children were taken to the hospital, but authorities say none of the injuries was believed to be serious.
