WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Hawker Beechcraft has announced furloughs
and other cost-cutting measures.
Workers for the plane-maker were told about the furloughs in a memo Tuesday. In it, human resources vice president Rich Jiwanlal said the company will furlough some workers for a total of 11 days June 29 to July 2, Nov. 23 to 25, and Dec. 21 to 24.
Workers who don't have vacation time available will not be paid during their furloughs.
Jiwanlal wrote that the measures may cause a hardship for some, but that they are ``essential to further strengthen the company financially.''
The company also will move its engineering, finance and supply chain teams back to the main Wichita campus and close two off-campus buildings.
