(Topeka, KS)--It has been 55 years since the United State Supreme Court ruled segregated education was unconstitutional. That event was remembered at the Brown v. Board historic site on Sunday, and many dignitaries were on hand.

There was a large tent outside, where members of the public heard speeches and music. U.S. Senator Sam Brownback and U.S. Representative Lynn Jenkins were on hand. Despite the fun happening outside, the real milestone was happening in the old Monroe building.

People representing each of the five cases that comprised Brown were inside, many meeting for the first time. They said they were glad Brown is still remembered, they will continue to carry the torch, and there is still a long way to go.
