A teen was acting out a scene from a movie when he jumped from a moving car, that's the word from the Shawnee County Sheriff's report. It's a story we first brought you last night on 13 News at Ten on Monday. Tuesday the Sheriff spoke out on an incident that has left a teen fighting for his life.

His family says 18 old Joe White had everything, "Great student, athletic, very involved in school, very well liked. He loves videography," said White's stepmother Kristen White.

It was making a film that put White in a spotlight he never wanted to be in. After a night of drinking White and some friends hit the road, with the camera rolling, White jumped from a car going up to 35 miles an hour.

Now fighting for his life. It was nothing like the picture they were shooting for, but where he got the idea for the video could be at a theatre near you.

"I think there is evidence on the video camera that these boys had in their possession that the "Jackass" movie was related to what they were doing," said White.

"The incident prior to and during the incident was video tape recorded. We have seized the camera," said Sheriff Dick Barta.

His parents say White had seen the movie the night before, but what is on the big screen is playing out in consequences that will affect the rest of his life.

"He's in a deep coma with a brain injury he had a blood clot which they drained. He is showing very slight signs of recovery," said White.

Now his family is using the spotlight to send a message to teens everywhere.

"Friends don't let friends drive drunk. Friends don't let friends do Jackass movies," said White.

The driver 18 year old Christopher Donald of Topeka was arrested for obstruction, reckless driving, and providing false information about an injury accident. The Sheriff's Office is also investigating where the teens got the alcohol.
