The owner of a chain of Latino grocery stores in Kansas and Missouri will be deported after pleading guilty to three counts of selling misbranded medicines manufactured in Mexico.
Thirty-eight-year-old Samuel Morones-Perales was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Kathryn H. Vratil. He was also ordered to forfeit $18,000 - the profits he made by selling the misbranded drugs.
U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren said Morones-Perales must leave the country within 30 days, and as a convicted felon is prohibited from returning.
Products that Morones-Perales sold at Latino Y Punto stores included Neo-Melubrina, Nordinet, Dolac and Sedalmerck.
