A Florida fugitive caught in Topeka made his first appearance in Shawnee County District Court on Monday. He's wanted on murder charges. A judge ordered 37-year-old David Patton of Indiana to be held without bond.
He's accused of killing two elderly sisters and then burning their bodies in Florida. Police arrested Patton Sunday after getting a tip that he was in the area. Patton's mother's address is in Manhattan.
He'll be back in court Wednesday to check the status of possible extradition to face charges in Florida.
