A Fort Riley soldier has been arrested and charged in federal court with driving to Wichita to have sex with a person he thought was a 13 year old girl.

U.S. District Court records show that 42 year old Brian Butters, of Pampa, Texas, was arrested earlier this month at a Wichita store where he allegedly planned to pick up the girl and take her to a motel.

An affidavit filed in the case alleges that Butters made contact with an undercover officer pretending to be a girl in an Internet chat room August 26th. They agreed to meet in Wichita to have sex. Butters was confronted by FBI agents at the store.

Butters was released on $20,000 bond and faces a sentence of five to 30 years in prison if convicted.
