(Topeka, KS)--When a car careens into a ravine off the highway, first responders need to be prepared to act. That's why realistic training is essential, especially for rural and volunteer firefighters who may not see accidents very often.
Fire crews from across the area gathered in Topeka Sunday to learn the ropes in a re-enactment of a first responder situation. There were plenty of "teachable" moments.
The firefighters who attend the voluntary sessions aren't just making themselves better firefighters....they're making their communities safer. Click the video to see the sights and hear the sounds of the training session.
