One building is completely destroyed and several others have severe smoke damage after a fire raged for several hours sunday in downtown Osage City.

The fire sparked around two o'clock sunday afternoon according to witnesses, but quick action by firefighters and the osage city community prevented it from being much worse.

Witnesses told 13 News that the Historic Mink Photography Building located at 531 Market Street was on fire.

Councilman Jason Croucher says the fire was mostly out by about six thirty.

He said several buildings sustained heavy smoke damage but the volunteers helped store owners move their items back in after the fire was put out....remarkably he says nothing was stolen.

Smoke could been seen from about 10 miles away.

Rick Potter of Osage City sent 13 News photos of the blaze.

So glad the fire didn't get into the hardware and drug store.I witnessed a fire in Topeka of a drug store a-lot of stuff blew up.Thanks so much for those who put it out.It would have been a real hazard with paint and drugs blowing up.Thank the Lord no one was hurt.

AWESOME JOB TO ALL!! Kyle (son) says that if it weren't for all the TEAM WORK this could have been a grounder. It is great to hear how the community came together at such a time of need.

Please give thanks to all the Fire departments a big thanks and praise. All of Osage Co fire departments and Mission township and MTAA from forbe's field even brought their big bucket truck which let fire fighters in closer and higher. Please anounce and praise all fire units on TV and radio. We can't thank them enough for the help in frigd temperatures. Their face shield were frozen with ice and their gloves. Praise to all who help empty the bussiness.
