GYPSUM, Kan. (AP) _ A Saline County girl's design has been selected for a flag to represent Kansas in Washington, D.C., as part of Youth Art Month in March.
Southeast of Saline fifth-grader Brooke Albright says her design is a combination of a cousin's drawing on her wall, pieces she did in an art class last year and sunflowers. Albright said she started the design with her drawing of a butterfly and swirls and took it from there.
The Kansas design and those from other states will be flown in Washington on March 4, with a reception and ceremony at the Russell
Senate Office Building. The flag will also be flown in Minneapolis in April at the annual convention of the National Art Educator Association.
