Bob and Elizabeth Dole held a news conference Sunday evening to discuss the opening of the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics.
They were both very humbled and proud, speaking for the first time about the building.
"It's magnificant," said Robert Dole. "Obviously we haven't seen everything, but we're looking forward to going through there many more times in the next couple weeks and months."
"It's a beautiful building," said Elizabeth Dole. "I think it's so tastefully done, inspiring a lot of people."
The Doles spoke several times about the impact they hope the Institute has on the younger generations. Mr. Dole says the building tells a story.
"With a lot of help and a good family, and a lot of spirit, you can do about anything you want," said Mr. Dole.
He was also asked about the Greatest Generation--his generation.
"The greatest generation are the young men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq, and around the world in all the areas," said Mr. Dole.
Mrs. Dole spoke on the accomplishments and achievements her husband has fulfilled.
"I'm just darn proud of this guy of mine," said Mrs. Dole.
After the press conference the Doles made their way to a private dinner. Official ceremonies for the Institute begin this week.
