Officials at Labette County High School shut down the school for several hours Monday after a report that an armed intruder might be on campus.
The Altamont Police Department got a call at about 1:45 pm saying a ``suspicious person'' was near the southeast Kansas high school. Labette County Undersheriff Robert Sims says the county's emergency communications center then got a second call, saying the intruder could be inside the building.
School administrators locked down the high school for more than two hours, keeping students inside while law enforcement officials searched the campus. When the special response team didn't find an intruder, authorities let the students go at about 4 pm. Sims says there were no injuries.
