The City of topeka has convinced the federal government to support its effort to rebuild a portion of the Kansas levee and even pay nearly two-thirds of the costs.
The Army Corps of Engineers Civil review Board unanimously approved the city's proposal. The entire effort is expected to cost $21,157,000.
Topeka would have to pay 15% of the cost ($7,405000), while the federal government would pick up the rest ($13,752,000). The entire project is expected to be completed in October 2014.
