The Kansas Insurance Office helped thousands of Kansans settle disputes with insurance companies last year.
Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger announced that the settlements recovered more than $13.6 million dollars for policyholders.
Recoveries are funds returned to policyholders through settlement of claims disputes with insurance companies. Consumers can file formal complaints with the department to trigger an inquiry.
The department recovery total was the second highest in the past 5 years.
