A life-long Topekan who's worked to advocate for health policy is making a run for Topeka City Council.

30-year old Craig Gunther is seeking the 7th District seat. He says he'll file the paperwork Monday.

Gunther is a registered nurse at Saint Francis Health Center. He also serves on the Kansas State Nurses' Association Board of Directors.

“Public service is important to me, and I'm excited by the prospect of giving my time and energy to the people of Topeka," Gunther said in a statement. "I’m proud of our community, and look forward to playing a part in making it an even better place to live.”

Gunter will challenge Lisa Stubbs and Andrew Gray for the seat currently held by Brett Blackburn.
