Gentlemen's Clubs Honored For Toy Drive Success

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Two Topeka gentlemen's clubs are being honored for raising some of the highest totals during the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots holiday drive.

Club Orleans and Baby Dolls raised around $7,000 during the recent toy campaign.

John Samples, owner of both clubs, welcomed the good publicity, saying his clubs aren't always the center of positive news. Samples said ``This year the girls really excelled'' in appealing for donations to the annual drive.

The Marine Corps began the program in 1948, which has grown to a nationwide effort at collecting and distributing toys for lower-income children during the holiday season.
