First Presidential Finalist Coming to K-State

The first finalist to replace outgoing Kansas State University president Jon Wefald is coming to Manhattan next week to meet with campus and community groups.

Dr. Kirk schulz and his wife will arrive on Thursday, January 15th, for two days of meetings with the various organizations. Dr. Dchulz currently serves as Vice-President for Research and Economic Development at Mississippi State University.

Dr. Schulz earned his his Ph.D. and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech University. Prior to his seven and a half years at Mississippi State, he served on the faculty of Michigan Technnological University and the University of North Dakota.

The next presidential finalist are scheduled to come on Jan. 22nd & 23rd; while the final candidate will arrive for his two-day vist on the following Monday, Jan./ 26th.

In May, Wefald announced his retirement at the end of this academic year.
