Fort Riley to Conduct 'Iron Patriot' Challenge

FORT RILEY, Kan. - Army combat training will be highlighted Jan. 13 as Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, participate in the "Iron Patriot Challenge" from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fort Riley.

Throughout the day, Soldiers will conduct land navigation, honing their skills moving across land using a map and compass. Additionally, Soldiers will participate in an 8-mile road march, and various first aid, radio operations and weapons events. The day will also include Soldiers using a wide array of weapons, from machine guns and assault rifles to pistols.

The 2nd Bn., 32nd Field Artillery Regt. deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2007 to April 2008 as part of the troop surge. They are currently training to redeploy to Iraq late this summer.
