Former Lottery Director Brings Luck to Kansan In Big Drawing

A Kansas woman's entry into a second-chance drawing offered jointly by the Kansas and Iowa lotteries has netted her half a million dollars.

A ticket belonging to Sandra Vines, Wichita, was selected as part of the Midwest Millions drawing held Friday in Topeka.

The Kansas Lottery's first director, Larry Montgomery, pulled out the lucky woman's name.

Vines, who says she felt she was going to win, is going to use the money to purchase a house.

In addition, five other players from Kansas and Iowa each won $10,000 in the drawing.

The Kansas and Iowa lotteries are the first in the United States to offer a joint instant-scratch game. There were approximately 69,000 combined entries from both states.
