Wittig to Report to Prison Wednesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ An attorney for David Wittig says the
former Westar Energy Inc. CEO is heading back to prison to complete
his sentence for bank fraud.

Paula Junghans said Wittig is scheduled to report to the federal Bureau of Prisons Wednesday. She wouldn't say where he is to be housed and federal prison officials said they don't disclose that information before the person surrenders to authorities.

Wittig was convicted in 2003 of helping a former Topeka bank president hide a $1.5 million loan from regulatory officials. He served about 13 months of a 24-month prison sentence before being released in 2007 pending appeal.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in June upheld the sentence and has refused Wittig's requests to delay serving the remainder of his sentence while he appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court.
