HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) _ A Hutchinson man who is being held on $1 million bond in his wife's death had a history of domestic violence.

The Hutchinson News is reporting on its Web site that 30-year-old Stephen Jones had been convicted in 2004 of attempted aggravated assault. The paper cites Reno County District Court Records, which show Jones initially had been charged with domestic battery.

His wife, Sabrina Jones, was subpoenaed as a witness.

She was found early yesterday in her apartment after officers were asked to conduct a wellness check.

Stephen Jones was arrested yesterday at a relative's house in Hutchinson. He is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder. Bond initially was set at $500,000, but was increased today to $1 million.
